Dr Sam Hughes is a geology educator and communicator, and an expert in Cornwall’s geology.
Having grown up in St Ives, he followed his passion and curiosity for how the Earth works to become a geologist. After completing his degree in 2008, Sam went on to gain 15 years’ experience as a lecturer in geology at the Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter. Sam also completed a PhD in 2018, researching the tectonic evolution of Cornwall and its influence on granites.
Sam now spends his time immersing himself in Cornwall’s rich geological history, communicating this passion and enthusiasm to all those interested through guided walks, educational talks, and his social media profile as ‘Cornwall Geologist’.
