Getting to St Ives
“Thank you Cohort for helping to make our trip such a success. The boys came away with some excellent work for their GCSE coursework.”Mandy Franklin, Eltham College
The great news is that once you’re here you don’t need to worry about transport again as everything to do in St Ives (and there’s a lot) is all within walking distance of Cohort.
Location & Parking in St Ives
Cohort is situated in the centre of St Ives. It’s next to St Ives Theatre, opposite the Merlin Cinema and an easy 5 minute walk from either the bus or train station. Visit our map here to see exactly how close we are to everything.
If you’re coming by coach or minibus there is short stay parking outside the building to drop off and pick up students.
For parking a coach, minibus or car there are 4 car parks close by, all of which have minibus parking and one with coach parking. There are also other car parking options available during the busier summer months. You can find more information on our main site here.
Transport in St Ives
There is one main bus station and train station. St Ives train station runs a connecting, 10 minute, branch line train between St Ives and St Erth; St Erth is a mainline station connected to the main rail network. Trains to and from London run through every hour.
There is a good bus network which connects St Ives to Truro and Hayle in one direction and to Lands End and Penzance in the other. Buses run every 20 minutes all year round.
In the unlikely event you’ll need private transport there are two reputable taxi firms in St Ives, both of which have offices in town and will pick up / drop off at the hostel.
Information for coach drivers
Cohort is situated on the B3306. Postcode: TR26 1FF.
When coming into St Ives on the A3074 you will come to Tregenna Hill which is a steep, narrow, hill (it is two way but realistically one way if a coach is on it). At the bottom of the hill there is a sharp, 90 degree left hand turn onto Gabriel Street / B3306 to drive past the St Ives Information Centre & Library. WARNING: this is a tight corner but arctic lorries, coaches and double decker buses regularly make this turn.
Cohort is then 30 seconds further up the road on the right hand side.
The B3306 is a single carriageway road. There is short stay parking in front of the building in order pick-up or drop-off the party. In the busier, summer months there may not be space outside and in that case you can temporarily park further up the road where there is a bus stop and it’s wider.
