“Cancelling a residential at the last minute because the whole year group needed to self isolate, was devastating for the pupils. Cohort were extremely understanding and refunded all money paid which the school and parents were incredibly grateful for.”Miriam Nisan, Halsbury Travel
To reiterate that trust we applied for and received the Visit England ‘Good to Go’ accreditation and the World Travel & Tourism Council ‘Safe Travels’ accreditation which means we are following British and worldwide industry standards to keep our accommodation safe and taking all necessary steps to stay Covid secure. These accreditations have since been abolished however our practices remain in place.
First things first
Meanwhile details of the changes we have made around the hostel can be seen below and our COVID-19 Risk Assessment can be downloaded form our Policies & Risk Assessments page.

Rooms & Furnishings
All our dorm rooms have large, sash windows which can be opened for ventilation. There are two internal rooms without external facing windows which are fully ventilated. These are small and are used for staff, usually on a single occupancy basis.
We have revised and implemented enhanced room cleaning protocols at Cohort. The cleaning products we use all meet UK Government guidance and are effective against enveloped viruses (Covid-19).
We are servicing rooms on a daily basis and this consists of emptying bins and sweeping the floors (when we can see them!).
All our facilities at Cohort are now open and we advise groups to be mindful of overcrowing when they do not have exclusive use of the building. The following areas are smaller and we do advise common sense when using them:
Small dining room | Dry room | Laundry area | TV room | Kitchen
Where a group has exclusive use of the building there is no need to be mindful of these spaces.
Showers & Toilet Blocks
All shower blocks are cleaned thoroughly twice a day and checked regularly throughout the day.
All showers contain a bottle of sanitising spray which we encourage all guests – students and staff – to spray around the shower when finished. This is to minimise any risk of transmission.
